The world
I was reading about this fantastic generator that they are making in CA somewhere that basically defies the laws of physics. It reminds me of the ZPM in Stargate that gets it's energy by tapping into Zero Point energy vacuum and tapping into it for free energy. Anyway, it doesn't really matter if it works or not because you know, regardless of what world changing events happen, the world we live in will still always be the world we live in. Would free, renewable energy, that wasn't harmful to the environment fix all the problems of the world? well it would certainly make for less people complaining about gas prices and it would for sure mean less wars in the oil rich areas of the world like the Middle East, but in reality, what would change? People will always be people and history has taught us that very little can change what people are. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to change the world, because history has taught has that we can change the world, both for the better and for worse. Nikola Tesla changed the world, and the world is a better place because of him. However, we often place too much value in our surroundings. There are still basics that will always be part of humanity and those are the things we really need to focus on. Our love for others, how we interact with people around us, what we contribute to the world as a whole, are things that will always be the same. History shows us that. Look at the stories and movies from all points in time all the way from 10,000 BC to 10,000 AD. There is still the base underlining factors in everything. We still love, we still hurt, we cry, we laugh, we play, we work, we eat, we sleep, etc etc. Those are the underlining factors of our humanity and they will never change, regardless of whether we pay $4.00 a gallon for gas, ride a horse, or float in a hovercraft, we will always have those things and we should never forget or de-prioritize them in our pursuit in advancing humanity. At the end of the day, that's all you're left with.
